Resumo: This seminar brings together two complementary perspectives on the role of biochar in sustainable agriculture and climate-smart practices. Prof. Mabel Ifeoma Onwuka will present “Enhancing Biochar Effectiveness for Improved Soil and Crop Production: Empowerment Strategies for Rural Women Farmers in Nigeria”, highlighting how biochar can be optimized to improve soil fertility, crop productivity, and social inclusion through the empowerment of rural women farmers.
Dr Rosalind Haskins will deliver the presentation “Optimising UK agricultural biochar with Life Cycle Assessment”, focusing on the environmental performance of biochar systems in the UK using Life Cycle Assessment to evaluate sustainability, efficiency, and climate mitigation potential.
Together, the presentations offer an integrated view of biochar applications, linking agronomic performance, environmental assessment, and socio-economic impact in contrasting agricultural contexts.
