Nome: Quantitative and Statistical Genetics For Plant Breeding

Descrição: While plant breeding is among humankind's oldest and most important endeavors, it remains a highly dynamic field. There is a constant flux of new technologies for plant improvement, such as advances in genomics, bioinformatics, high throughput phenotyping, and new statistical approaches for selection, gene mapping, and GxE interactions. The goal is to offer to the students state-of-the art training in these modern tools. By offering modules on different topics, this allows a breeder to choose courses that best fit their specific needs. The mission is to transfer current technologies to a wide audience of users, be they commercial breeders or academics interested in plant science improvement. Offered as a pre-event of the XXIX SIGEN, this course is part of a series organized by the Núcleo de Estudos de Genética (GEN) at UFLA. The course is also a component of the 16th Congresso Unificado da UFLA and the XXXIV Congresso da Pós-Graduação da UFLA.
